- Secure your dog in a crate, in a room away from the front door.
- Give him a juicy bone or a Kong stuffed with hotdogs, cheese, or peanut butter.
- Play music or leave a TV on in the dog's room to mask sounds of activity at the door.
- Close drapes so that your dog does not see people coming and going through the window.
- Supervise your dog around children; they may be attracted to the dangling bits or streaming material of a costume.
- Teach children to "Be a Tree" and stand still if a dog starts nipping at their clothes.
- Keep your dogs and cats indoors around Halloween. Pets have been stolen, injured, or poisoned as part of Halloween pranks.
