Thank You!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that helped make our first CPE Agility Trial a success!

Special thanks to judges Valorie Duff and Jean McKenzie, as well as Denielle Stasa who directed each course setup. Thank you also to all the dedicated course setters, ring crew, gate stewards, scribes, assistant scribes, timers, leash and scorecard runners, vendors, photographers, results-counters, packup crew, and of course all exhibitors and their speedy dogs!

We had some great weather Saturday and some not-so great weather Sunday, but we managed to get through over 300 runs a day! Wow! We'll be posting the results online once we figure out how!

Watch the Dogs Run and Jump This Weekend!

Be sure to stop by this Saturday and Sunday and watch over 100 doggies run around and have fun! Gemini Dogs is happy to be hosting a two-day outdoor agility trial starting at 8AM in the field to the right of the building (the side closest to 495).

If you've never seen dog agility in person, this is your perfect chance to get up close and personal with tommorrow's future agility all-stars! It's free too!

What is "Dog Agility"?

Dog agility is a competitive sport that tests a person's skills in training and handling of dogs over a timed obstacle course. Competitors race against the clock as they direct their dogs to jump hurdles, scale ramps, burst through tunnels, traverse a see-saw and weave through a line of poles in an obstacle course configuration designed to challenge a handler's competitive and training skills. With scoring based on faults similar to equestrian show jumping, dog agility has become an exciting spectator event.

CPE Games Seminar Pix and Video

Gemini Dogs trainer Denielle Stasa held a CPE Games seminar last Monday in our outdoor agility ring. She explained the rules of three of the more popular games held at agility trials and offered some helpful tips and tricks on scoring and course running.

After each explanation, each handler got to walk the course as if it were a real trial and then run their dog. And of course all the dog had a blast! Check out the pictures and videos below!

Denielle walks the class through the course

Tyne, Lily, and Ben (l-r) say, "Enough walking! Let's run!"

Faith and Cassie say, "We're ready too!"

Faith says, "This looks easy enough!"

Michelle says: "My Dogs Are Tired!"

If you see Michelle hobbling around Gemini Dogs the next few days it's because she just completed the 60-mile Breast Cancer 3-Day walk from Framingham to Boston this weekend! After training all Spring and Summer, Michelle walked the 20 miles a day and happily reports that she didn't get any blisters!

So the next time you see Michelle, give her an "Atta Girl!" (and maybe a quick backrub too!) Good job, Michelle!

  • If you'd like to help Michelle reach her fundraising goal, please donate here. She's so close!
